The short version
Zareef collects as little as it can and still work: an account that keeps the packs you have, and optional details that help us decide what to draw next. We do not sell your data to anyone, and there are no ads in the app.
What we collect
The first time you open the app an anonymous account is created for you — a random number with no personal details in it. That is what keeps your packs yours even if you never sign in.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, your email address, and your profile picture.
- If you fill in the “Tell us about you” screen (entirely optional, and skippable): country, governorate, birth year, gender, app language, preferred dialect, interests, and how you heard about us.
- Tied to your account: the packs you have, and the artists and characters you follow.
- On your phone only, not with us: your favourites, and the packs you opened last.
- App usage: the screens you open, the packs you view, and search terms. We use Firebase Analytics.
- If the app crashes: a report of the failure so we can fix it. We use Firebase Crashlytics.
- If you are an artist and submit work: the drawings you upload, and your public profile — your name, bio, picture and account links — which are published under your name and are yours to choose.
Why we collect it
The account keeps what is yours from being lost with a change of phone. The optional details help us choose what to publish next and for whom. Usage data and crash reports tell us where the app is failing people. None of it is used for anything else.
One thing about your birth date
When usage data is sent, it carries an age band (“25–34”, say) rather than your birth year. The year itself stays in your account and is never sent to any analytics.
Notifications
If you follow an artist or a character and turn the bell on, your phone subscribes to notifications about their new packs. The subscription lives on that phone and stops the moment you turn the bell off. We send nothing else.
Who can see your data
Your data is stored on Firebase, a Google service. Google runs the servers and does not use your data for its own purposes.
No third party receives it. We do not sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising.
Access and deletion
From Settings → Delete account you can delete your account entirely. Deletion is immediate: everything stored with us — your packs, your follows, your personal details — is erased, and the account itself goes with it.
A copy survives in Firebase’s own backups for at most thirty days, after which it is permanently gone. Those backups cannot be reached from the app and are not used to restore a deleted account.
Packs saved on your phone are removed when you uninstall the app.

Age
Zareef is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you learn that a child has sent us data, tell us and we will delete it.
